These terms apply to Allele & Slide, a free website of genetics calculators for crosses, population genetics, blood types, chi-square tests, primers and growth rates. By using the site you accept these terms, our Privacy Policy and our Disclaimer. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Using the Calculators

You may use the tools and guides free of charge, without an account, for study, teaching and laboratory work, including quoting results in assignments and lab reports where your course allows. Results depend on the values you enter; you are responsible for checking them and for following your institution's rules on the use of calculators and online tools.

Educational Use Only

The site is for education. It does not provide medical advice, genetic counselling, diagnosis or parentage testing, and its results must not be used for decisions about health, pregnancy or family relationships.

Academic Integrity

Use the calculators to check your own working. Submitting results you do not understand, or using the site where your instructor has not allowed it, is your responsibility.

Laboratory Work

If you use the primer or growth calculators to plan experiments, follow your supervisor's instructions, your institution's biosafety rules and the protocols supplied with your reagents.

Acceptable Use

Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a rate that affects other users, introduce malicious code or use it for any unlawful purpose.

Intellectual Property

The text, graphics and code of the site belong to Allele & Slide or its licensors. You may quote short passages with a link back. Formulas, ratios and the results you calculate are not owned by us; product and organisation names belong to their owners and are used only to describe the subject.

Availability and Changes

We aim to keep the site available and correct but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, add or remove tools and content at any time, and update these terms; the date above shows the latest revision.

Limitation of Liability

The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the site, including lost marks, failed experiments or decisions based on calculated ratios, frequencies, probabilities or temperatures. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
